What is Lomi Lomi Nui?

Lomi Lomi Nui – Hawaiian Kahuna Bodywork is an extraordinary massage.

Often referred to as the “queen of massages,” Lomi Lomi Nui is an ancient Hawaiian healing art that profoundly affects the body, mind, and soul.

This form of bodywork goes beyond the physical level, aiming to release emotional blockages, harmonize energy flows, and promote deep relaxation.

Over time, many different Lomi Lomi Nui massage styles have emerged, coming from various traditions in Hawaii. We teach from the lineage of Kahu Abraham and the Institute Hawaii / Munich, Germany. This Kahuna Bodywork style was developed by Kahu Abraham Kawai’i, the source of this blessed bodywork. He passed away in 2004.

This ancient knowledge and the spirit of Aloha, which guides, heals, and inspires us, are central components of our teaching concept.

We teach in the “Hawaiian Style,” which means all levels of Lomi Lomi Nui are welcome, and experience in massage and bodywork is appreciated.

In ancient times, this massage ritual was performed by Kahunas (priests and guardians of mystical knowledge and healing systems) to transform all aspects of the “self” and release them fully to achieve harmony and flow in being. The ritual was usually performed for the initiates – chosen ones – especially for those who were to rule the community. It lasted for many hours and sometimes even days.

Lomi Lomi Nui – Hawaiian Kahuna Bodywork Massage is based on intuitive and precise movements, breath, and focused intention.

The session traditionally begins with a prayer and is a prayer in itself.

The session carries the intention that the person receiving it gains great clarity and strength for the “NEXT STEP” in their life.

A central element is Flying, a powerful movement meditation. Flying, also known as the Frigatebird Step or Flight of the Navigators, plays a central role in Kahuna Bodywork. This tool is used to train endurance, concentration, and especially the senses – the inner senses and consciousness.

As Flying dancers, we study our movement patterns closely and learn to refine them. The frigatebird, known for its immense endurance and agility, is native to the islands of Hawaii. Traditionally, Flying was used in Lomi to work more effectively, lightly, and quickly on the back. The qualities of the navigator’s step – endurance, presence, posture, centering, and navigation – are essential components of this movement. The masseur navigates over the body, which has transformed into a unique landscape of valleys, hills, and rivers. The masseur glides over the body, thus reading this unique map with all senses.
